Hysterectomy Recovery
Hysterectomy can be a very painful and exhausting experience. As I recovered the first thing I focused on was pain management. Once I had a handle on my pain I began to exercise. The next step was to take some time to do something nice to my body! I started doing at home mask and foot baths. The face mask I find at beauty supply store,Target,T J Maxx, Marshalls and drug stores. After my 6 week check up, I went out to get a manicure and pedicure which felt amazing . Self-Care to me is taking time to make my soul happy. I feel a happy mind equal’s a happy life. Taking time to do self-care during my recovery period really helped me take my mind off the surgery aftermath. Obviously with surgery comes some wounds, for me I had 4 cuts which means I have 4 stitched areas on my stomach. After the procedure my stomach felt so dry so I used Cetaphil moisturizing lotion on my stomach avoiding the areas that had stitches. Once the stitches had healed I used the Cetaphil on that area as well. The other self-care that I did on a daily basis was to start my day by reading a meditation quote and at bedtime I would write in my journal(not every night). I am trying to get better at writing in my journal nightly but it is still a work in progress. Recovery from any surgery is a challenge so please take time to take care of yourself. Self-Care is different for everybody, above I have shared some of my self-care rituals. Feel free to comment below and let me know some of your go to self-care ideas.
