Hysterectomy and Fashion

Fashion was not on my radar after my surgery. Prior to my surgery I went to target and ordered a few items from amazon to make sure I was as comfortable as possible after my procedure. I didn’t have a lot of shorts with an elastic waistband and that was something I thought I would need. So I purchases some plain t-shirts and shorts(my surgery was in July). I only wore my nightgowns the first few days but I am a person that likes to put on clothes even if I am in the bed/house. I also like to have my bed made, so I would make the bed and get dressed and lay back on the bed and use a throw blanket. So t-shirts and shorts was my daily uniform. Due to the swelling on my stomach elastic waistband was the way to go, I also found that the shorts gave my stomach some support. Since I had a total hysterectomy there is some movement of your small and large intestines, which are the largest organs near your uterus and they will fill most of the space previously occupied by your uterus. As I improved and went out to the mall and out to dinner I wore swing dresses and other loose fitting clothes because my stomach was still bloated and the stitch site was sore.
