In this blog journey, I hope to inspire and support others to be their best selves. I have had several friends ask me to share my fashion tips and exercise routines, so I decided to start a blog.

For as long as I can remember I have had a love for fashion and I love to create my style. Fashion changes but your style remains. As a young child I would be asked to put together outfits from my mom and friends. I believe fashion is what you buy and style is who you are, so be true to yourself. What I love about fashion is the fact that it has a world of possibilities. I often see a look that I really relate to and so I search to find the key items to recreate the look and tailor it to my style. I will be doing a monthly post showing an outfit inspiration and then the look I put together based off that outfit. It will be called “Saw It” versus “Styled It”. Fashion is near and dear to my heart and always will be.

Self-Care is something that has been a focus the last few years. As a single mother of a daughter with a busy dance schedule, self care wasn’t something I made time for. My daughter has graduated college and is living on her own, so I began to really make self care a part of my thoughts and actions. Self-care is anything you do to take care of yourself so you can stay physically, mentally, and emotionally well. Most people breakdown self care into 4 quadrants which are emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual health. I will be sharing some of the ways that I practice self care. While others add in practical and social categories as a part of their self-care classification. Despite the difference in the categories, they all agree that self-care practices are vital components for a well balanced life.

Exercise is something I have always done with highs and lows. Exercising is very important, especially for us adults sixty and over. It helps improve muscle strength, bone density and our cardiovascular health. I enjoy walking and is the easiest way to start moving. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. A good walk helps to clear my mind and I enjoy taking in the sights, I usually walk around the track or the park. I also enjoy yoga, because it puts emphasis on your physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation. Lastly I enjoy hiking, there is always something beautiful to see and discover while on a hike. I hike once a month with a group of women and it’s a great way to spend the morning. Hiking is great exercise and I enjoy the challenge of walking along natural terrain and going up and down hills. After each hike I feel really refreshed and have a sense of accomplishment. I invested in a nice pair of hiking boots and walking sticks to make sure I am safe and secure while on these hikes.
